After nearly eight years reporting at my hometown newspaper, Dec. 1 will be my final day at The Florida Times-Union. On Dec. 2, I’ll start updating this regularly with stories. In Jacksonville, one in five children live in poverty, Black people are twice as likely to live in poverty, Black men are 11 times more likely to be killed than the rest of the population. This is a city of tremendous inequality, but it has the potential to be a greater place. To move forward, Jaxsons need to know what’s holding our city back.
I’m looking forward to reading your work on this extremely important topic.
