When I started at the Times-Union, there were more than 100 people in the newsroom. After Dec. 1, there were just 23. In the last three years, Jacksonville lost 40 journalists and only hired one.

That’s why we’re building a nonprofit journalism collaborative that will hold the city’s institutions accountable for the poverty, inequity and violence of our city through partnerships with local media.

A city Jacksonville’s size deserves high-quality reporting.
